Borderland is a portrait of the border town of Glaslough, recently awarded ‘The Tidiest Town in Ireland’. Despite the tidy community it is today, the area has a darker past, having been badly affected by the violence and uncertainty of the Troubles and the militarised Border. Much of the landscape around the town are bogs, notorious for their strange powers to prevent decay. Twenty years after the end of the conflict what history and traumas have been preserved in this landscape? The film retraces contrasting histories and memories in an attempt to reflect on how history has given form to the landscape and sense of place today.
